3D Printing Nerd

While at MRRF2017 I sat down (literally) and interviewed Dustin Philips, otherwise known as The JAT.MN, while Barnacules photobombed us. Our backdrop was the SeeMeCNC Part Daddy.

While at Midwest RepRap Festival, Jerry aka Barnacules Nerdgasm invited me to join him “on stage” for a talk on how 3d printing is NOT a fad. The talk was a last minute add, and Jerry didn’t disappoint! Sorry if the video quality isn’t what you are used to – this video is thanks to JWCProductions.

While at MRRF, Chuck Hellebuyck, Jerry aka Barnacules Nerdgasm, Jim Carter, and Sean the Cameraman all went outside to take Chuck’s Filament Friday empty spool racer for a spin. Barnacules was set to push Chuck, and it didn’t end well. Plus, I got the chance to catch up with Chuck at his table and chat about his channel and what drives him to 3d print.

You’ve seen people build ships inside of bottles, right? In 3d printing, we have our own ship – the 3DBenchy – and I wanted to put our little ship in a bottle using 3d printing. I did it using a bottle model from Creative Tools, and I showed you how to set it up in Simplify3D and in Cura!

Coin sorter machines are fun, and the last one I printed sucked. I found another on Thingiverse thanks to The JAT.MN, and it’s Eugene Pentland’s model. Let’s give it a try on the Prusa i3 mk2 in Rapunzel silver PLA.
