3D Printing Nerd

ZYYX sent over their 3d printer for me to get some usage on AND give my opinions on. Right away, I could tell it was packed with care. It didn’t work right out of the box – but that was from a cable coming loose during shipping. Fix took minutes, and it was up and running in no time. How well did the first print go? Angus at Maker’s Muse showed you how to design a multi color / multi material model using Autodesk Fusion 360. Now, I show you how to print it in Cura and Simplify3D for the Ultimaker 3 and the BCN Sigma R17 3d printers.

I 3d printed this Mewtwo Pokemon model on the Ultimaker 3 and BCN3D Sigma R17 using dissolvable filament (PVA filament) for supports on each machine. In this video I talk about my experience with the two PVA filaments and how the models printed.

I recently acquired a Nintendo Switch, and it’s cool! Unfortunately, Nintendo didn’t make the right decisions for charging while playing and not in the dock, and the angle of the joycons in the big controller. Let’s use 3d printing to fix that.

I was sent the 3dsimo mini to see what I thought about it. It’s the night before Easter, so once I unboxed it, I decided to give it a test by coloring Easter eggs with the 3d pen tool, inspired by Devin at Make Anything! It worked great, and I along with my kids were extremely happy with the results.
