3D Printing Nerd

Disney released character posters from Star Wars The Last Jedi! Luke, Leia, Kylo Ren, Rey, Finn, and Poe all got their own! We wanted to create something awesome and unique, so we laser cut a General Leia poster out of wood!

The Kodama Obsidian 3d printer – the starting-at-$99 Kickstarter offering has had it’s fair share of decent words, criticisms, and shipping charges blowback. Kodama has done it’s best to adjust, and in my case, asked nicely to have a re-do. The Obsidian had some adjustments, and now with a semi-tuned Simplify3D profile, it’s printing away. How well is it working? What am I printing? What do I like and what should change? LET’S DO THIS.

The next #Wildcard filament is here, and it is HIGHFIVE BLUE! Alex from Proto-Pasta and I got together and used their HTPLA v3 to make this new, metallic, awesome filament color!

Here is part 2 of the Mario block build, where I take you through bondo and spot putty, sanding, filler primer, sanding, primer, sanding, painting, taping, airbrushing!

I thought I would get some final thoughts out on the Kodama Obsidian 3d printer V3 Prototype I have before sending it back. The hardware itself produces some decent models, but definitely needs some refinements before getting into the hands of Kickstarter backers.

My 2006 Subaru WRX had a broken gas cap tether. I used 3d printing and the ZYYX+ 3d printer to print a new tether and install it on my car!
