While visiting Malta, we had the opportunity to visit Stargate Studios Malta and meet with the Managing Director, Matthew Pullicino. He shared with us a unique and innovative practical printing project where they used 3D printing to create a catapult for popcorn. Using a combination of 3D printed parts, wood, and elbow grease, the team was able to build a functional catapult that was able to fling popcorn into the air. I was lucky enough to get to try it out and it was an incredible experience. We also filmed the popcorn being flung in slow motion, which added an extra layer of excitement to the project. This project highlights the versatility and potential of 3D printing, and how it can be used in unexpected ways to bring creativity and fun to any project. It was an amazing experience, and a great example of how 3D printing is being used in commercial projects to make them more efficient and unique. The use of 3D printing in this way, not only makes the process more efficient but also makes it more sustainable as it reduces the use of traditional materials. This is a great example of how 3D printing can be used in creative and unique ways, and it is a testament to the skill and ingenuity of the team at Stargate Studios Malta.
